At the end of our first year,
students and faculty sat down to pick the school's mascot. We chose "Framers."
The term refers not only to the
Framers of the U.S. Constitution, who made this republic possible, but to all
of the people whose imagination and effort have built this nation and human
civilization. The Framers of the Constitution were the first to solve the most
challenging problem of all: how to create a republic of diverse, often
competing interests, while protecting each individual's freedom and the products
of their creative energy.
The United States is a nation of
firsts, several of which are depicted above, and we became so by thinking and
by doing within the framework of a republic created by educated people
committed to solving difficult problems. The future of this nation depends on
the education we give our children, and on what they do with what they learn.
Like the Framers, at Ideal Schools we
are working to solve a challenging problem: how to build the high school
students need to succeed in an increasingly complex and competitive world. We
aim to help our students join the ranks of those who built this nation with
effort and with new ideas, technologies, and solutions, and in so doing made
the world.
