As you walk in, your first thought will be, "This
is unlike any school I have ever seen." This is no
accident. We have rethought and redesigned everything about high school so
that students actually learn and invest effort in school.
Our overarching goal is to help students think and make
decisions like the leaders they will one day be, by teaching them to
evaluate information critically and independently, ask thoughtful questions,
pursue sound evidence and answers, invest sustained effort, build proficiency
across academic disciplines, find their own voice, and become comfortable
sharing their thoughts and ideas with others and learning from mistakes.
To provide for an educational and enjoyable high school experience
that builds the abilities, dispositions, and strengths that help young adults
become leaders, we
balance a challenging academic program with the academic support and
outside-the-classroom activities high school students need to learn.
-
Our space is one example of our unique approach to
high school education. Classrooms are designed as conference rooms where
a handful of students sit around a large table to discuss and work on complex
questions and problems. Everyone is part of the discussion.
-
We have also redesigned the traditional college preparatory curriculum so that
students work at a higher level while receiving personalized
support and guidance.
-
We spend more time learning outside of school than any other local high school,
with 2 to 4 field studies trips each month,
in addition to a number of social activities to build a strong community of
learners.
By
concentrating on students' academic achievement, college preparation, and
social well-being--instead of on athletic programs, a large physical plant, and
all of the other non-academic costs associated with traditional schools--we are
able to offer a challenging and integrated academic program, personalized
instructional support, and very small classes in a technology-rich setting for less cost than any comparable private high school in
northern Virginia. To learn more about tuition costs at comparable private

We
are located in eastern Loudoun County and are convenient
for students throughout northern Virginia. We currently have students
enrolled from Loudoun, Fairfax, Prince William,
Clark, and Montgomery (MD) counties.
