College Admission and Completion

Ideal Schools teaches students in a supportive educational environment so that students gain admission to a college of their choice. The primary objective of any high school must be to enable its students to enter and complete a college of their choice.

Of course, admission to the most highly regarded schools grows increasingly difficult, and costly, each year, so admission to a particular school cannot be assured. However, what can be assured is that our students will be better prepared to enter and complete college, and more closely supported and carefully guided during the college admissions process, than their peers at other high schools.

Our academic work and educational experiences (e.g., internships) will distinguish our students from other high school seniors. The rigorous project-based curriculum will permit our students to make a strong case to colleges that they are prepared to outperform at the college level. This will be clear from the portfolio of student work each student will be able to describe to admissions officers, given the wide range of completed writing assignments and virtual and real final products from school projects.

Seniors will be able to discuss their final projects in student essays and interviews, and to explain how they will build on the senior project foundation in college. Students will also be able to speak about their internships and apprenticeships to show that they are well prepared to work independently as college students, and to handle the new pressures that come with social and academic independence.

Our College Placement Coordinator will be more hands-on than a traditional college counselor and, along with a student's faculty Academic Advisor, will ensure that each student has a clear, cohesive, and persuasive package of academic materials to send to colleges.

Finally, the school's academic calendar will accommodate students' college visits.
