School for the Gifted will open its middle school in September 2012. Please download our information session Presentation for more information about the middle school program.
The school will help each student excel academically and socially by:
→ Preparing
each student for academic success at the best high schools for gifted
students, including Thomas Jefferson, the Academy of Science, and our
own high school, with a rigorous math, science, and humanities
curriculum
→ Enriching the academic program with projects, competitions, and field studies designed to bring the academic program to life
→ Incorporating
the sorts of eclectic and engaging subjects that make the MIT Splash
Program, Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth and other
gifted enrichment programs so educational and memorable
→ Creating
a healthy and supportive social climate so that students who want to do
well in school are surrounded by similarly focused peers
→ Maintaining a small school environment so that each student's experience and instruction is individualized and meaningful
