Parents: You have questions about high school and college, and we have answers.
  • How do we help students learn to think critically, and to solve complex, ill-structured problems; i.e., the sorts of problems they will face as adults?
  • Why are great books the foundation of our academic program?
  • How do teachers with advanced degrees in their content areas help students learn more?
  • How do we help students think about their long-term goals, and get ready for college and graduate school, in high school?
  • How can we help motivate a high school student who is doing less than he or she is capable of doing? In other words, why do bright students underperform in high school, and what do we do to help them outperform?
  • How can we help students focus and succeed in the Age of Electronic Distraction (a.k.a. The Multitasking Myth)? What is the strategic use of educational technology?
  • What are the professional opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for students currently in high school?

Schedule a Visit

We meet most students and parents during the school day, so we can spend time learning more about each candidate, and so we can answer each question in detail. Students and parents also have an opportunity to see the school in operation. We encourage you to schedule a visit when school is in session.

For those students and parents who cannot join us during the school day, we host several open house sessions during the course of the academic year. Open house sessions begin at 7 p.m. and consist of a presentation followed by a discussion with parents. We serve appetizers and beverages.

If you would like to visit during the school day, or join us for an open house session, please email info@idealschools.org or call (703) 956-5020.
