Thank you for visiting the website for Ideal Schools and welcome to an extraordinary opportunity.

Choosing the right high school can be more important than choosing the right college.

This is the ideal high school for students who are not sufficiently challenged, engaged or inspired by traditional public or private high schools.

Our academic program is built on a simple principle: Students learn and accomplish more when they are interested in what they are doing in school and know why they are doing it.

For students and for their parents, this will mean the difference between a student who is at their best in school and one who is not reaching his or her potential. An example of this inquiry- and curiosity-driven academic approach is described in an article about "The Physics of the Familiar" and the work of an Applied Math Lab at Harvard University in the March/April 2008 issue of Harvard Magazine.

Our small, innovative school provides benefits no other high school can offer:

PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTION

No more than 10 students in a classroom, with students seated around a conference table discussing academic content, exchanging ideas, and thinking deeply about complex questions, as experts do in professional settings

Our current class size averages 5 students, which is less than one-fifth the size of the average class in public schools

As county budgets decrease, class sizes will increase and individualized programs will suffer

Each student is a contributing member of a learning community and no student is overlooked and

A very low student to teacher ratio, so that expert teachers can guide each student and make sure each student is both challenged and supported

INSTRUCTION IN A TECHNOLOGY-RICH SETTING

Advanced Technology Lab course work

Project-based Science and Mathematics instruction

Individualized, computer-based foreign language instruction in over a dozen languages

Interactive whiteboards or flat-panel monitors in classrooms

RICH FIELD STUDIES PROGRAM

2-4 trips off-campus each month to expand upon coursework

Field Studies enriches classroom content in all subjects

Flexible schedule allows trips off-campus on short notice for important events

A HEALTHY AND SUPPORTIVE SOCIAL AND ACADEMIC CLIMATE

AN INNOVATIVE AND ENGAGING CURRICULUM

COLLEGE PREPARATION THAT AIMS FOR LONG-TERM STUDENT SUCCESS

OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN SCHOOL AND TO SHOWCASE THEIR WORK
